This Privacy Policy describes how Gaukrabben ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Nämly ("the Service"), whether through our mobile app or our website at namly.app.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address (optional) — if you choose to create an account with email
  • Anonymous user ID — generated automatically to enable app functionality

Usage Data

  • Session data — information about your naming sessions (session codes, partner connections)
  • Swipe preferences — your likes and dislikes on names
  • Name matches — names that both partners liked

Location Data

  • Country detection — we use IP-based detection to suggest culturally relevant names. This information is not stored on our servers.

Advertising Data

  • AdMob — our mobile app displays advertisements through Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and usage data for personalized advertising, subject to your consent preferences.
  • AdSense — our website displays advertisements through Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Where required (for example in the EEA), a Google consent message lets you manage your choices.

Purchase Data

AI-Generated Content

Name meanings, origins, and related information displayed in the Service are generated using artificial intelligence (large language models). While we strive for accuracy, this AI-generated content:

  • May contain inaccuracies or errors
  • Should not be considered authoritative etymological or historical sources
  • Is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only

We recommend consulting academic sources or professional etymologists for definitive name-origin information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service's core functionality
  • Enable partner matching and name synchronization
  • Suggest names relevant to your country/culture
  • Display advertisements (with your consent)
  • Process premium purchases

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase for authentication and data storage. Firebase is operated by Google and is subject to Firebase's Privacy Policy.

Google AdMob

We display advertisements in our mobile app through Google AdMob. AdMob's data practices are described in Google's Advertising Privacy Policy.

Google AdSense

We display advertisements on our website through Google AdSense, which may set cookies to serve and measure ads. AdSense's data practices are described in Google's Advertising Privacy Policy.

Google Play

In-app purchases are processed through Google Play, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

  • Account data — retained until you delete your account
  • Session data — retained for 90 days after last activity, then automatically deleted
  • Anonymous usage data — retained for 90 days

Account & Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Nämly account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app:

  1. Open the Nämly app and sign in.
  2. Tap the profile / settings (gear) icon, then open the Account section.
  3. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes the following data:

  • Your saved favorites
  • Your solo and multiplayer sessions (and the name swipes within them)
  • Your participation in sessions hosted by others
  • Your push-notification tokens
  • Your account profile and sign-in record
  • Any Premium entitlement tied to the account

This action is irreversible — none of the above is retained after deletion. Session data is also automatically deleted 90 days after last activity even without account deletion.

If you can no longer access the app, you can request account and data deletion by emailing contact@gaukrabben.dev from your account's email address, and we will delete your data.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction — request restriction of processing
  • Portability — request transfer of your data
  • Objection — object to processing of your data

Advertising Consent

When required by law, you will be asked for consent to personalized advertising. You can change your preferences at any time — in the mobile app's settings, or via the Google consent message on the website. You may also opt out of personalized ads through your device settings.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Service is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@gaukrabben.dev and we will delete such information.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
